About My Work

Hello! Thank you for visiting my site. I am an artist and art educator and reside in Boston, MA. My work includes mixed media cyanotypes and earrings.
I use a range of found objects on the cyanotype prints such as buttons, fabric, spray paint, acrylic paint, marker, and pastel. A cyanotype is a 170 year old photographic printing process that produces prints in a distinctive dark greenish-blue. The word cyan comes from the Greek, meaning “dark blue substance.” The process was invented by Sir John Herschel, an astronomer and scientist, in 1842. No darkroom is needed, instead it uses the power of the sun and ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. When they are combined and exposed to UV light it creates a beautiful Prussian Blue. The cyanotype process was also used to create blueprints.
In addition to creating cyanotypes, I also design earrings out of a variety of materials including cyanotype paper and fabric, batik fabric, magazine paper, pressed flowers and leaves. I cut my earrings into interesting organic shapes. With some the earrings I cut geometric shapes into them using an exact-o-knife. I use a plastic coating on all my earrings so they are more durable and all the metal fishhooks are nickel free. I hope you enjoy my work! Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
